Mark graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA(Hons) in Mathematics, followed by an MSc in Mathematical Physics. He subsequently worked at Oxford University Press, first as a lexicographer on the OED and later as a Content Engineer, building tools and processes to support publishing of books and journals in print and digital formats. He has presented examples of his work at the Markup UK and XML Prague conferences.
