Gazette d’Amsterdam

The Gazette d’Amsterdam, known in France as the ‘Gazette d’Hollande’, was the outstanding newspaper of its time and has long been considered the principal European journal of political information. Its publication in this form will allow scholars to study, year-by-year, the treatment, dissemination and reception of news across Europe throughout the 18th Century. The Gazette is of fundamental importance for historians of political culture, economics, and international relations in the Enlightenment.

The Gazette d’Amsterdam, covering the years 1691 to 1796 using images of 78,000 pages, is published for the first time on 12 CD-ROMs.
