- Oxford University Studies in the Enlightenment (previously SVEC):
India and Europe in the global eighteenth century
Ed. SIMON DAVIES, DANIEL SANJIV ROBERTS and GABRIEL SÁNCHEZ ESPINOSA
Eschewing the reductive perspectives of nation-state histories and postcolonial ‘east vs west’ oppositions, contributors adopt a range of approaches to re-examine the complexities of the historical, political and cultural interactions between Europe and India in the long eighteenth century.
‘Adopting multi-disciplinary approaches, contributors stress the complexity, subtlety and intricacy of the remarkable global connections between India and Europe in the eighteenth century [and will] undoubtedly provoke not only lively debate, but also much further research.’ – Maria Misra, Keble College, Oxford
