Oxford aims to set the standard for university fundraising in Europe and it is a terrific place to work as a fundraiser. Oxford is a world leader in humanities scholarship and the University has been named ‘University of the Year 2022’ by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide.

The Voltaire Foundation is an internationally recognised centre for eighteenth-century scholarship and study of the Enlightenment. The eighteenth century, or ‘The Age of Reason’, was a period of intellectual giants – Franklin, Jefferson, Hume, Locke, Montesquieu, Rousseau, and of course, Voltaire. In their passionate defence of human reason, they laid the foundations of equality and tolerance that are at the heart of modern liberal thinking. This role will be fundraising for interdisciplinary funding priorities in enlightenment studies as well as exciting new opportunities in Digital Humanities.

You will be an experienced & entrepreneurial fundraiser with a demonstrable track record of securing six & seven figure donations. A graduate or equivalent, confident & credible at a senior level, you will be skilled in identifying & cultivating major gift prospects. This role requires collaboration with academic, college & University development staff, so you will need to be able to engage key stakeholders to work towards common goals in a complex institution. This role will report to the Head of Development – Humanities and will work closely with the Director, and Chair, of the Voltaire Foundation. This role may require international travel and fluency in French and other European modern languages is desirable.

We encourage applicants from all sectors of the community and are especially keen to encourage candidates from under-represented groups to apply.

Only applications received before 12:00 noon on Monday 12 September 2022 can be considered. You will be required to upload a letter of application as part of your online application.  Interviews are currently scheduled to take place on Friday 7 October 2022.
